New Ejecta in South Africa

    A new Ejecta was found by researchers in South Africa (Vredefort). Researchers have analyzed rocks that were taken from fields and these rocks' ages are between 1.9 billion to 2.2 billion years old.

    According to researchers, They focus firstly on quartz minerals because choked quartz gives some clue of meteoric collision. This study is leading by Matthew S. Huber who is a geologist at the University of the Western Cape , South Africa. He also worked on meteoric events in Greenland and Russia.
    The impact of the meteor was eroded by temperature and pressure for billion years. Especially high temperature is the basic element for erode. He talked about erode of crater : " It’s all eroded away. It’s gone". Consequently, we don't see any craters in this area.
